Can you believe it’s been one whole year since we rebranded as Clarke Munro? And what a year it’s been!

Partners Wendy Clarke and Nicola Munro have both been with the business for more than 25 years each, and decided that, pandemic or no pandemic, 2020 was the right time to put their names above the door!

For those that don’t know, the origins of Clarke Munro began with Thirlwells, which originally opened in June 1977, making it the longest serving independent estate agency in the area – a legacy we’re all proud to be a part of.

The pair took over from founders Margaret and Keith Thirlwell in 2004, and a mere 16 years later decided it was time to make it official with a change of name and a rebrand.

We were honoured to be joined this time last year by Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen, who helped us commemorate the grand opening of our rebranded branches with a virtual celebration, shared on Facebook due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Since then, our feet have barely touched the floor, after welcoming Richard Towler as sales director and Kyle Tranter as an apprentice viewer in November 2020. We then launched our Thank You NHS scheme in January this year and started a further recruitment drive in May, which resulted in the appointment of our new senior sales negotiator, Alice Boddy.

Wendy said: “This past year has been an absolute whirlwind but it’s amazing to see how well the rebrand has been received.

“While we’ll always have a place in our heart for Thirlwells, Clarke Munro is the future, bringing together the old-fashioned service and local knowledge with the cutting edge of technology.”

Nicola added: “It was a leap of faith to put our names to the business, especially in the midst of a pandemic, but we’re delighted to see it has paid off.

“The Clarke Munro team has gone to strength to strength over the past year and we can’t wait to see what the next 12 months and beyond have in store.”
